Discovery Gap Cover ensures that you and your family are covered against unexpected health-related expenses

Discovery medical aids offer unlimited comprehensive hospital cover. The plans cover in-hospital specialist claims at your chosen medical aid rate. However, the reality for many is that specialists may charge way more than these rates and in some cases, we see claims exceeding 600% of the medical aid rate. Members are liable for this difference and these costs may be very high indeed.

Gap Cover covers the shortfall between the medical aid rate and the actual rates charged by private healthcare professionals. Discovery Gap Cover provides members with an additional 500% cover, over and above what your medical aid scheme pays. The product also covers certain costs (pre and post hospitalisation) related to the procedure, which includes specialist consultations, radiology, take-home medication and rehabilitation claims post-discharge.
