Are you humble? Or has pride turned you into an arrogant person?

Humility in Latin is humilitas, meaning “groundedness.” It comes from the word humus, meaning “earth” or “ground.”

They say, “Pride comes before a fall.” There’s even a joke in there somewhere: “So far, so good…” until the fall slams you into the ground.

The ultimate groundedness.

We all carry some degree of arrogance—but knowing it and having the ability to reflect, to adjust, and to be modest and respectful is what defines humility.

Today is Mandela Day.
We will spend the day at Lewenskrans, a home/shelter, helping those who have been dealt a difficult hand—young and old—who may have lost their dignity, not by choice but by circumstance.

This could be any of us.

Let us be humble.
Let us help where we can.
