Yesterday, we had the pleasure of celebrating John’s 90th birthday.
John is a friend’s father—a man of dignity and grace. Most of his friends and peers have passed on. John stands like a bastion of what was great in the world.
But today, his message of living with a firm reminder of the past is lost. We have forgotten where we came from, and we are trying to reinvent the present as if we are oblivious to the strong lessons we have available to learn from.
Why are we so intent on making the same mistakes again and anticipating a different outcome? Are we really the superior animal? Do we really think that we know better?
We may be able to squeeze more and more data onto microchips, but our common sense seems to be leaving us as we destroy the world we live in.
Let’s learn from the older generation.
