Use the Vitality Calculator to see how you can earn points throughout the year as you get healthier with Vitality and earn greater rewards.

The Vitality Health Check is made up of five measures: blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, a weight assessment (which includes weight, height and waist circumference) and signing a non-smoker’s declaration. The Vitality Health Check for 65+ consists of the regular Vitality Health Check with additional age-related screenings. We’ve also adjusted the biometric ranges to be a more appropriate measure of your risk.

The points you can earn for completing a Vitality Health Check is based on how healthy you are. You can view a more detailed explanation of how points are awarded for each measure as well as Vitality Health Check ranges here. If your results are out of range and you complete the assessment again, you will only be awarded additional Vitality points if your tests are performed at least 90 days apart.

All adults (older than 18) earn 7 500 Vitality points in the first year they screen for HIV as Vitality members then 1000 Vitality points once a year thereafter. Discovery Health pays for the test on all Discovery Health Plans from the Screening and Prevention Benefit.

Visit our dietitian and learn about healthier eating habits. You can earn 1 000 Vitality points for your consultation per year.

The Vitality Fitness Assessment costs R445.40

You can earn 2500 Vitality points and up to an additional 5000 Vitality points depending on your fitness level. The Vitality Fitness Assessment is made up of two parts – the first part measures your cardio-vascular fitness and the second measures your strength and flexibility.

You will need to pay for the assessment upfront. If you are on a Medical Scheme plan that covers the cost, you can claim this amount from your day-to-day benefits if you have funds available. If you are a Discovery Life policyholder, you will need to pay for your assessment upfront.
