I never got the feeling that we were foreigners visiting London or Lords. We felt at home and the stadium was such a welcoming venue.
Do we make people around us feel welcome? Do we go out of our way to be accommodating?
Life in South Africa has us becoming so much more guarded. From driving on SA roads to our interactions with people in our regular shops or our homes, we are suspicious, we don’t trust. We don’t notice how we have changed.
A stranger approaching us is not to be trusted. Yet in the UK, many strangers came to talk to us. There was no fear of suspicious intent.
Will we ever be able to be the trusting people we once were?
I can’t say yes, but I truly hope we can fix S.A.
