Lately, I’ve felt like I’m running out of positivity.
I am a positive person by nature—but even so, the flow seems to be drying up, like a discharging battery. The light is dimming.
So how do we recharge our minds?
There are so many brilliant minds out there—people who have done the hard, often invisible work of researching, reading, and thinking deeply about subjects we haven’t even begun to explore. I’ve come to rely on them. I read their work not just for knowledge, but for energy. For direction. For clarity.
Reading the thoughts of smart people makes me smarter. It lifts me out of my own limited perspective and shows me a wider horizon.
Some say you can’t learn from other people’s mistakes.
What drivel. Of course you can. In fact, I believe we learn more from others than from our own trial and error. We don’t have the time or capacity to make every mistake ourselves—and why should we, when others have already walked those paths and left behind breadcrumbs?
Through their words, we can unpack, analyze, and reassemble their insights until they become our own. By reading, reflecting, and truly engaging, we can grow far beyond what we might have reached on our own.
So if you feel like you’re running on empty, don’t wait for inspiration to magically return. Go to the source. Refill your tank.
Read.
Learn.
And learn to love learning.
