We visited Wales, driving from Oxford. Travelling due west, we crossed into Wales via the most beautiful Prince of Wales Bridge – a structure that leaves one in awe of human ingenuity.

The stunning bridge carries you across the River Severn and brings you into a world where your view of the written word is changed forever.

Welsh is seen on road signs, and your mind tries to align the words with their English equivalents. There is nothing similar in the spelling of the words, and you try to pronounce words that seem to have letters next to each other that just don’t seem to go.

I guess we now know what it’s like when tourists visit the old Port Elizabeth in our country.
