We try to find the positives, yet we have leadership in this country that creates and supports toxicity. We know it. We see what is happening around us. The decay is visible to all.

Yet it is the man in the street who speaks out, while those with the loudest voices remain silent. Their voices are clearly absent as we cry for action.

We are like frogs in the pot, feeling the heat rise. Making excuses for those who have the power to stand up.

The leaders who built their empires here, with us, now sit with their safety secured—ignoring the noise from the disenfranchised.

You are shouting so loudly in your silence that we wonder if you care. What you say feels like empty platitudes as you feather your nests.

Stand up, sir/madam. Be truly South African.
