What a weekend of disappointments for South African sports lovers. I woke up today feeling deflated. Perhaps it’s because we always want—or even expect—to win.
But the truth is, we are a proud nation. I’ve worked hard at being a positive light, standing tall for myself and my family. I try to banish negative thoughts and be there for others in their dark moments. Yet when we experience disappointment, it can feel overwhelming. A few lost international games suddenly seem to weigh heavier, as though all the struggles of the past months are being dragged back to the surface.
But here’s the thing: sport reflects life. We don’t win every time. And when we stumble, that’s when we need to stand together the most.
I am here for you. And when I need you, I trust you’ll be there too. Because in the end, we live not only for ourselves, but also for those dearest to us.
So let’s wake up today and choose differently. Let’s find those reasons to be the light, to be the positivity we all seek.
We can do this. We are the positivity and light.
